E-commerce SEO Success for a Beauty & Wellness Website
From No Organic Traffic to 113,400 Organic Clicks In 3 Months
How We built organic search visibility and helped a women’s beauty store generate more than $210k in 3 months.
We partnered with this US-based women’s beauty e-commerce store that had little to no organic search traffic. The goal was to get its products in front of people actively searching for them, improve visibility in Google’s regular search results and Shopping tab, and turn that visibility into more website visits, purchases, and sales.
Over approximately 6-7 months months, our team worked across the website’s technical SEO, product and category page optimization, content strategy, Google Merchant Center, and link building.
Rather than focusing on rankings alone, we built an SEO strategy around how customers discover beauty products, research their options, and decide what to buy.
● The Challenge
The Website Needed A Stronger Foundation For Organic Growth.
Its products had to become easier for search engines to discover and understand, while the pages themselves needed to target the search terms potential customers were using.
We also wanted to expand the website's reach beyond people already searching for a specific product. Relevant informational content could introduce potential customers to the store, answer their questions, and guide them towards the products that matched their needs.
Our approach covered three priorities:
Technical health
Improving the website's technical health so search engines could access and understand it.
Product visibility
Increasing product visibility across search platforms, including Google's regular results and Shopping tab.
Relevant content
Building content that could attract potential customers at different stages of their buying journey.
Five Workstreams, Built Around How Shoppers Buy
1. Technical SEO Audit and Implementation
We began with a comprehensive SEO audit to understand the website’s existing condition and identify issues that could limit organic performance.
Our review covered website loading speed, crawlability, indexing, XML sitemaps, and the implementation of schema markup and structured data.
We then worked through the issues identified, making sure search engines could access the website’s important pages and understand their content.
We also optimized the XML sitemap and implemented the necessary structured data across product and category pages.
For product pages, this included relevant product information such as identifiers, ratings, and reviews, where applicable.
The goal was to give search engines clearer product information and support eligibility for relevant rich results and product listings.
2. Product and Category Page SEO
For an e-commerce store, product and category pages are central to organic sales. We optimized these pages to improve their relevance to the searches potential customers were making.
Our work included:
Researching relevant product and category keywords.
Optimizing page titles, meta descriptions, and other meta tags.
Improving product descriptions and category page content.
Optimizing image alt text.
Improving on-page content so search engines and shoppers could better understand the products being offered.
The focus was to help the right pages appear for relevant product searches, rather than simply increasing the number of keywords the website ranked for.
3. Google Merchant Center and Shopping Visibility
We set up and optimized Google Merchant Center to support the store’s product visibility in Google’s Shopping ecosystem.
This work went hand in hand with our product page optimization and structured data implementation. We focused on making product information clearer and ensuring the store’s product listings were properly configured for the relevant Google surfaces.
The objective was to create more opportunities for shoppers to discover the store’s products when comparing options and searching for items they wanted to purchase.
4. Content Strategy and Topical Authority
We developed a content strategy around the store’s products and the topics relevant to its customers. This included optimizing existing product content and creating useful blog articles that answered questions people might have before buying.
For example, someone researching a beauty product might not be ready to purchase immediately. A helpful article can introduce them to the topic, explain what they need to know, and guide them towards relevant products on the website.
We used this approach to reach potential customers beyond direct product searches. By covering relevant topics consistently and connecting informational content with appropriate product pages, we worked to strengthen the website’s topical relevance and create more pathways from organic search to purchase.
5. Off-Page SEO and Content Marketing
We worked on the website’s off-page SEO through link building and content marketing.
Our activities included sharing and publishing relevant content, helpful guides, and blog material on appropriate external websites, alongside building links to support the website’s search visibility.
The emphasis was on relevance: earning visibility and links from sources connected to the website’s products and subject areas, rather than pursuing backlinks simply to increase their number.
Search Visibility That Turned Into Purchases.
Over approximately 6–7 months of SEO work, the website established a stronger organic search presence and recorded substantial search visibility and purchase activity.

These results show the reach the website achieved through search and the volume of purchase activity recorded during the reporting period. The increase in purchases is particularly important because the objective was not simply to make the website more visible, but to help that visibility contribute to business growth.
E-commerce SEO Works When Every Part Works Together.
This project brought together the different parts of e-commerce SEO that need to work together: a technically accessible website, well-optimized product and category pages, useful content, relevant backlinks, and properly managed Google Merchant Center listings.
At WebX Softech, we approach SEO as more than a rankings exercise. We look at how customers discover a business, what they need to find on its website, and how organic search can support the journey from discovery to purchase.
